Neeraj Chopra Highlights Diamond League Final 2024: Neeraj Chopra Finishes 2nd, Misses Diamond League Title By Just 0.01m

Chopra's Throw Falls Short

Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra came close to winning the Diamond League title but missed out on the top spot by a narrow margin of just 0.01m. Chopra's best throw of 89.94m was not enough to beat Grenada's Anderson Peters, who won the competition with a throw of 90.20m.

Chopra started the competition with a foul in the first round. He then threw 88.44m in the second round and improved to 89.94m in the third round. However, Peters threw 90.20m in the fourth round, which turned out to be the winning throw.

A Close Contest

The competition was closely fought throughout, with Chopra and Peters exchanging the lead several times. Chopra had the lead after the first three rounds, but Peters took the lead in the fourth round and held on to it till the end.

Chopra had a chance to win the competition in the last round, but his throw of 89.50m was not enough to beat Peters' winning throw.

Disappointment for Chopra

Chopra was disappointed to miss out on the Diamond League title, but he said he was happy with his performance.

"I gave it my all, but it wasn't enough today," Chopra said. "I'm disappointed to miss out on the title, but I'm proud of my performance."

Chopra will now turn his attention to the World Athletics Championships, which will be held in Budapest, Hungary, from August 19 to 27.
